BAI Employees Join Tree-Planting Movement on Indonesia’s National Tree Planting Day

Mempawah, November 29, 2024 - In celebration of Indonesia’s National Tree Planting Day, PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia (BAI) organized an environmental initiative titled “Greening the Earth with BAI People.” The event was held in collaboration with the Women Farmers Group (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT) Kebun Karya Lestari from Bukit Batu Village.

This initiative reflects PT BAI’s tangible commitment to combating air pollution and supporting environmental sustainability, while also empowering the local community. Participants—including BAI employees and members of the Women Farmers Group—collectively planted a total of 1,017 tree saplings in the PT BAI site area. These included 827 Johar trees and 190 Angsana trees, selected for their ecological and economic benefits, contributing to environmental preservation and offering potential value to nearby communities.

In his remarks, Wira Sembiring, Assistant Manager of External Relations & CSR, emphasized that the event was more than just a symbolic observance—it was a concrete action towards creating a greener and healthier environment for future generations. He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the private sector and community groups in driving environmental stewardship.

With a shared spirit of unity and care for the planet, this initiative is expected to inspire broader participation in protecting and nurturing the earth. “Greening the Earth with BAI People” is one of many integrated environmental sustainability programs that PT BAI implements in partnership with local communities.
