PT BAI Conducts Welder Training for Local Residents in Collaboration with UPTD-LLK MSME Office, Mempawah Regency

Mempawah, December 8, 2024 - As part of its commitment to developing local human capital, PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia (BAI), through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, held a welder competency training program for local residents. The training was conducted in collaboration with the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for Small and Medium Enterprises (UPTD-LLK UKM) of Mempawah Regency.
This initiative aimed to enhance participants' technical skills and expand employment opportunities—particularly in the field of welding, which is in high demand across various industrial sectors. A total of 16 selected participants from Bukit Batu Village, Sungai Bundung Laut Village, Sungai Kunyit Laut Village, and other areas in Mempawah Regency took part in the program. The training included both theoretical instruction and practical hands-on experience, all under the guidance of experienced professional instructors.
Wira Sembiring, Assistant Manager of External Relations & CSR, stated that the program forms part of the company’s broader CSR strategy focused on community empowerment. “Our goal is to ensure that local residents acquire skills that are aligned with industry demands, so they can remain competitive and improve their quality of life,” he explained.
Upon completion of the training, participants will undergo a national competency assessment to earn a certified welder qualification recognized across Indonesia. This certification serves as a valuable credential for entering the workforce—both locally and internationally.
This program not only boosts technical capacity among local communities but also strengthens collaboration between the company and local government in promoting inclusive development. Such initiatives are expected to continue as part of BAI’s concrete efforts to help build a competent and competitive local workforce.
